2010 MUSTER.  Christmas in July at Kenilworth.

The Team at Southern Cross wanted a way to introduce their customers to each other, to create a camaraderie,  or an extended family feel, amongst their clients.  The ideal way to do that was to ‘muster’ everyone to one central meeting place in a nice setting with meals and entertainment to break the ice.

The call went out to all Southern Cross customers to hook up their vans and meet at Kenilworth, in beautiful south east Queensland. They came from far and wide; some even detoured to the Muster while on tour. They set up in the Kenilworth showgrounds to cater for the large number of vans along with a large central marquee for the entertainment and dining. There was plenty of things to do in Kenilworth and the surrounding area. Many walked together and toured the local Cheese factory and the historic Pub, while others watched a local footy match or had a quiet beverage with their new friends at the campfire. Some drove to Imbil to see the Valley Rattler steam train come into town and to visit the local markets. On Saturday night Santa paid a visit and handed out gifts after the meals and speeches were finished. There was music and dancing along with Karaoke, and a few more quiet beverages.

The overall outcome was very positive, with people swapping stories about their experiences with Southern Cross, and roads they have travelled. Plans were made with their new friends to meet at other destinations in other parts of the country, and most of all, everyone agreed that this should be an annual event. The Southern Cross team were praised for their efforts, their hospitality and the way they made everyone feel like part of the family.
