Southern Cross Caravans - Frequently Asked Questions

Will a 5th Wheeler fit on a conventional caravan site?

Generally, yes, but it depends on the length of the Fifth Wheeler. Remember it doesn’t have a draw bar or A Frame. This makes the Fifth Wheeler more manoeuvrable as the vehicle can approach at much tighter angles. Remember; a standard 18 foot caravan site will only take up to an 18 foot caravan. On the same site, you would fit a 22-23 foot Fifth Wheeler.

Do I need a special licence for a 5th Wheeler?

Most Fifth Wheelers can be towed throughout Australia with an ordinary passenger Class ‘C’ vehicle licence. This will depend on the type of tow vehicle you purchase, weight and the position of the hitch.

Are there any disadvantages to owning a 5th Wheeler?

Like owning any major piece of property, be it a house, a car or a boat, a Fifth Wheeler is no different. If you do have concerns about owning a Fifth Wheeler ask one of our friendly staff.

If you have any more questions that need answering please fill in this form and we will be in contact with you shortly.
